Mediterranean forest

Cañada Real lies 900 metres above sea level, in the Sierra de Guadarrama. This is a transition area, from the holm grove (quercus ilex) to the oak wood (quercus pyrenaica).

Ash trees (fraxinus angustifolia) grow along the brook side, beside hemlock (conium maculatum), sloe, honeysuckle, and some willows and elms.
